John Deere and Big Iron Farm Show on the Agriculture Technology Podcast
September 13-15 marked the 36th annual Big Iron Farm Show in West Fargo, ND. As in previous years, John Deere and RDO Equipment Co. were key participants in the show, with a large pavilion area featuring new John Deere products and technology, along with RDO Equipment Co. team members ready to speak with attendees and answer questions.
Host Tony Kramer brought the podcast to Big Iron and invited three John Deere team members to discuss what’s happening at the show, right from inside the John Deere pavilion. Tony also broadcasted the podcast recording live on Facebook, and the full video can be viewed anytime on the RDO Equipment Co. Facebook page.
Here are a few of the highlights from the conversation. Listen to the full episode here.
We’re recording live from the Big Iron Farm Show, talking to John Deere representatives about the multiple pieces in the John Deere portfolio. Don’t forget, Big Iron runs through Thursday, September 15.
Up first is Jim Xu to talk about the Big Iron event itself.
Thanks, Tony. I’m Jim Xu, the show coordinator for the Big Iron Farm Show. Each year, about 80,000 people come out to the show and, so far on day one this year, we’re seeing steady traffic.
This year, as far as products go in the John Deere area, we have an emphasis on sprayer and application equipment. So we have the F4365 high-speed nutrient applicator. We also have an R438 sprayer. And we also have some all-new products, including our 9RX tractor.
Next up, Dave Mulder to talk about the F4365 and touch on some ExactApply features.
Thanks, Tony. I’m Dave Mulder, product line marketing manager for application equipment at John Deere. We’re showcasing a couple key new products that were just introduced to customers and dealers in August.
First the F4365 high capacity nutrient applicator. This machine is built for high productivity, high speed applications. It offers 365 horsepower and peaks at 400 so it’s able to pull in those tough conditions. It also offers the same transmission as our 8R Tractors for ease of use and intuitive use.
We’re also showing ExactApply, which is an intelligent nozzle control solution. John Deere focused on the customer needs over the years and this delivers on what they’ve asked for. It offers improved coverage, has individual nozzle control, turn compensation, and A/B nozzle switching, so both manual and automatic for better speed and rate range.
Up next is Dennis Ogle to talk about the 9R family of tractors.
Thanks, Tony. I’m Dennis Ogle, senior marketing representative for Waterloo Tractors. To go into the 9R family of tractors, some things you’re really going to see with these is maneuverability. When you’ve got this 4-track solution to turn under a load in a variety of situations, maybe traction is limited or it’s pulling bigger implements, these have the hydraulic capability and the power.
The other big thing to touch on is integration, the full integration. We’ve got green on green solutions. The 9R family of tractors is one solution, and it offers the John Deere dealer network for support and John Deere precision ag offerings.
Thanks to all our guests from John Deere. And to close with what’s big here at the show, technology. We’re highlighting that, and the new offerings and new solutions that John Deere has.
