Dec 6 - The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation recently awarded SBBI, Inc. a $9.6-million contract for the construction of a fish barrier across a river near Clifton, Arizona. This concrete barrier is being constructed on the Blue River a half-mile from the confluence of the San Francisco River to protect populations of threatened fish like the loach minnow, roundtail chub, and spikedance. By protecting these fish, the entire river ecosystem will be served.

Field Support Office Provides to BackPack Program

The Field Support Office conducted a food drive for the Cass Clay BackPack program. This program, sponsored by the Great Plains Food Bank, provides meals and snacks for area children that struggle with hunger on weekends and holidays. The need is staggering. During the 2010-2011 school year, over 7,000 children in Fargo/Moorhead school districts qualified for and greatly relied on the free and reduced price school lunch program to meet their daily nutritional needs. The BackPack Program bridges the nutritional gap faced by many of these children when the school program is not available (such as weekends and holidays).

Fergus Falls Hosts 5th Grade Field Trip

The store invited the class to a field trip, and the group of 24 students experienced each department - sales, parts, and service. The Sales Department gave kids a ride in a tractor or combine. Webster Aids in Storm Cleanup

A severe thunderstorm with winds in excess of 80-100 mph caused extensive damage in Roslyn and Eden, SD on July 26, 2011. The two small towns in northeastern South Dakota, near the Webster store, were littered with uprooted trees and branches, which blocked several streets and alleyways. Grain bins had turned over, the grain elevator lost part of its roof, and many homes and vehicles sustained serious damage from the wind, falling trees, and heavy rainfall.

Fontana Donates Use of Equipment for School Clean Up Initiative

A local elementary school needed assistance cleaning up planters near the main entrance and improving their garden. Vermeer Pacific - Fontana, along with Colby Gergovich, Southern California Regional Parts Manager, came to the rescue. The Fontana store donated the use of a used Mustang skid steer, which Colby used to move large rocks and a truck load of mulch. All of the old plants were ripped out, and then large rock and mulch was moved. Then the volunteers planted the areas with drought-tolerant California native plants.
