Three Members of the RDO Equipment Co. Family Working Together

Posted 03/19/2010 — RDO Equipment Co., Vermeer Pacific, and B&B Rental Company work to provide solutions to customer

Vermeer Pacific recently completed a demo for the City of San Diego at the Miramar landfill with an HG6000TX which featured the new fuel chip attachment.

This fuel chip attachment has chipper knives installed onto a standard grinder drum in place of the normal teeth. The landfill's goal was to chip palm frawns into a material that is not as bulky, so it will not take up as much space. This had never been done with this attachment. Fortunately, the demo/experiment went very well with an 8 to 1 reduction in size; the machine was also able to maintain a good production rate.

The landfill then requested that a spec product be produced with the horizontal grinder. With the help of the Fontana Service Department, within a couple hours they were able to switch the machine back over to the standard configuration and then produce the needed material.

While onsite, Vermeer Pacific team members did a number of tasks, including loaded a walking floor semi trailer from the rear with the use of a blower attachment, and ground other material such as Christmas trees, green waste, and construction lumber that they have onsite. This further reinforced how versatile the HG6000TX is.

One of the highlights of the demo was that the city was loading Vermeer Pacific's grinder with a John Deere loader on lease from B&B Rental Company that came from RDO Equipment Co. in Poway. Team members Gary Young and Stratton Darrow from the RDO Equipment Co. store in Poway also attended the demo, to further promote the relationship and show the support the city will have when they decide to purchase a Vermeer grinder.

The city has budgeted for the new grinder; they hope to take delivery around June 2010.
