Touch a Truck Event Puts Lakeside Youth in the Driver’s Seat
Four employees represented the Lakeside store at the San Diego-area Touch a Truck event held in September. This family-friendly event gives everyone who attends the opportunity to experience what it’s like to sit in the driver’s seat of heavy equipment. The event is set up like a carnival with games, foods, and more than 40 vehicles/pieces of equipment to explore. For this year’s event, proceeds benefit trucking, construction, and industrial career paths for local youth.
Dennis Foreman, Service Technician; Pete Woliung, Field Service Technician; Willie Romero, Field Service Technician; and Rick Murray, Truck Driver, were the team members onsite. They had a skid steer loader, mini excavator, and rollback truck on display.
“Watching their faces light up as they played with the controls and honked the horns – it was priceless!” stated Rick.
Mike Fenton, General Manager, commented, “It was a great experience for us to interact with the community and display a few pieces of equipment. The kids love sitting in the seat of the equipment!”
