RDO Equipment Co. and R.D. Offutt Company’s annual charity luncheon, RDO Caters Taters for Charity, raised a record $81,569 for benefiting charity, CCRI. Thanks to the overwhelming support of partners and both local and national businesses, 100% of the total funds raised at the potato luncheon are going to CCRI’s Life Enrichment Program.
Making an Impact
CCRI provides support to more than 400 individuals in the Clay County area with an important mission of enhancing and enriching the lives and learning of people with disabilities.
“This event has a significant impact on the lives of each person we serve,” Shannon Bock, Executive Director said. “RDO once again has strengthened our community through this incredible charity partnership. We are grateful for their leadership, generosity, hard work, and for their confidence in our work.”
Various ways the Life Enrichment program positively impacts CCRI clients include providing secure and accessible homes in accepting communities, dedicated, skilled, and compassionate caregivers, and activities that support living a full life.
More Than a Potato Luncheon
Starting in 2000 as a potato luncheon designed to raise funds for charitable causes in the community, RDO Caters Taters for Charity has grown into a first-class event and annual gathering of Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo community members.
Doors opened at 11 a.m. for lunch, with guests offered the option of enjoying a meal in the spacious dining room at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Fargo, or taking pre-ordered lunch to-go. All guests were served the famous RDO Caters Taters “pound-tato” – a full one-pound baked potato – with choice of tasty toppings, including this year’s new topping, Buffalo Chicken, as well as a beverage and dessert. A raffle, door prizes, and photo booth also highlighted the event, and offered both additional support for the charity and a fun atmosphere for guests.
In its previous 17 years, RDO Caters Taters for Charity has raised more than $500,000 for local charities including American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish of North Dakota, Hospice of the Red River Valley, and YWCA Cass Clay.
R.D. Offutt Company, the largest potato grower in North America, provides the Norkotah potatoes served at the event from its farm in O’Neill, NE. Several partner businesses, both local and national, join the effort and donate products, materials, and other goods and services to make RDO Caters Taters possible every year. With the added support of the Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo communities, numerous volunteers, and RDO management, the event has grown every year and continues its mission to impact local charitable organizations.
