Construction Update: 2019 Progress of RDO Equipment Co. in Dayton, MN

Construction Update: 2019 Progress of RDO Equipment Co. in Dayton, MN

12 Dec 2019

Driving past the site of the new RDO Equipment Co. store in Dayton, MN, it’s hard to believe construction only began earlier this year – and, perhaps even harder to believe, the store will be fully up and running in just a few months.

Looking ahead to 2020, the team is getting excited about the store’s progress, growing the team, and creating new opportunities for customers in the Twin Cities.

“We’ll have a great mix of tenured team members and new hires coming together and training to provide the best service levels for our customers,” John Weber, General Manager, said. “In fact, we currently have postings for positions in parts, service, and support so those interested in joining the RDO Dayton team should visit the RDO Careers page.”

The store itself is coming along quickly, too. Building on the completion of steel framing last fall, the exterior building enclosure is slated for completion next week.

According to the project’s general contractor, BC Contracting, additional tasks scheduled for completion before year-end include install of both shop floor heating tubing and rebar for the shop slab, EIFS installation, and electrical, plumbing, and HVAC rough-ins. All interior rough-ins are scheduled for completion at the end of January.

“It has been extremely exciting to watch the facility come together but, more importantly, the work that John is doing to build the team,” Kelly Gress, Vice President of RDO’s Midwest construction region said. “His efforts will ensure we’re going to hit the ground running and be ready to support the Dayton customer base when we open our doors next summer.”

Located adjacent to Interstate 94 and the 610 interchange, the Dayton store complements RDO’s existing business on the south side of the Twin Cities, and will bring a convenient option for equipment, parts, and service for customers working on the north side of the metro as well.

In addition to meeting the needs of customers who work across the entire footprint of the Twin Cities area, the store is designed to accommodate three of RDO’s largest manufacturing partners: Vermeer, Topcon, and John Deere. The store’s 45,000 square feet of space includes separate, dedicated spaces for both Deere and Vermeer equipment and parts support.

With 16,000-plus square-feet and featuring 16-bays, the service department will also serve both brands. Service managers will focus on each Vermeer and Deere equipment, while the Dayton store’s service technicians will be certified on each brand. A specialized technology team will perform calibration, updates, and repair on Topcon technology, in a separate 1,100 square-foot service area.

The Dayton store is scheduled to open in the summer of 2020. Watch for more construction updates and follow RDO on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter to see additional photos, videos, and special progress news.
