Every summer, several RDO Equipment Co. stores in the Midwest region plan and host one day of fun for a very special audience. In partnership with John Deere, Day of Play events were held at RDO stores in Ada, MN, Hawley, MN, Casselton, ND, Washburn, ND, and Aberdeen, SD. Teams at these stores invited children, as well as the whole community, to come out for a fun afternoon.
Day of Play gives children up-close views of the big green equipment they see in the fields near their homes. It offers families a chance to spend time outside and enjoy John Deere toys, ag-themed activities, and yard games. It also gives the RDO team the opportunity to interact with customers in a more relaxed setting, as well as members of the community they might not otherwise meet.
These all-ages community events kicked off Friday, June 7 with events in Hawley and Washburn, and wrapped up Friday, July 26 with the final Day of Play event in Casselton. In total, more than 2,500 children attended the Day of Play events.
For many stores, Day of Play has been an annual event for several years. For others, it’s a new addition to the store’s calendar. Washburn held its first Day of Play event this year and everyone was eager to participate, according to Parts Manager, Tana Waldren Larsen.
“Community is important to our store and this was a great opportunity to spend time with our customers, as well as meet new people and families in the Washburn area,” she said.
