On Saturday, July 14, children were invited to take part in a special agriculture-focused day at the Red River Zoo in Fargo, ND. The event featured exhibits, games, and other activities designed to help children learn about agriculture in a fun, interactive environment.
The highlight of the event was the modern agriculture exhibit, which featured a giant soil climbing wall, life-size crops, biodiesel and ethanol pumps, and a farmer’s shop. Children also had the opportunity to plant seeds, dig for worms, and get an up-close view of agriculture equipment, in addition to enjoying the zoo and seeing a variety of animals.
Jacob Maurer, Agronomist for the company’s Midwest region, says the team was eager to participate in the event because RDO Equipment Co. is an important part of the local agriculture community, as well as the Fargo-Moorhead community. He explained why this particular event, aimed at young children, was especially exciting.
“We have a commitment to the future of our industry, and not just high-school and college-aged students,” he said. “We want to engage the younger audience, get them excited about and involved in modern agriculture. This event allowed us to connect with them in a fun way and we’re already looking forward to next year.”
