Moorhead Team Helps Equip New Career Academy

This summer, Parts and Service Managers from RDO Equipment Co.’s Moorhead store got a tour of the new Moorhead High School Career Academy while it was still under construction. While there, they also found a way they could help bring the Academy one step closer to welcoming students.

During the tour, the RDO group learned that staff was struggling to locate toolboxes for the technical programs to be held at the Academy. Their minds turning to their RDO connections, Mike Wollschlager, Regional Aftermarket Manager and Jon Markegard, Parts Manager, started a plan to help.

Jon researched the availability of toolboxes through manufacturer Mi-T-M, coordinating with Jeff Schneider, a trade and industry teacher at Moorhead High School, on needed sizes and quantities. 

Two weeks later, the order of 25 toolboxes arrived at the Moorhead store. Sales Associate Adam Meister, Yard Coordinator Tyler Bjerken, Parts Specialist Jared Bjordal, and Account Manager Jay Desautel loaded and delivered them to the Academy, where they broke down packaging and assembled the toolboxes so they were ready to use.

“When Jeff mentioned they were having a hard time with toolboxes, Jon and I thought we were uniquely positioned to help them find what they needed,” Mike said. “And when their order arrived, Jon figured anything we could do to help further was just a little less the staff over there had to worry about.”

The Academy is not only a neighbor of the Moorhead store, but it promises to be a site of partnership for educators and stakeholders across industries working to prepare the workforce of tomorrow. The building features labs, classrooms, and huddle spaces and will be home to specialized learning communities offering students opportunities to personalize their learning toward specific career pathways.
