What’s Unique About this Region?
As RDO Equipment Co.’s largest region, Midwest Construction includes all of the company’s major manufacturing partner lines and divisions.
While most would expect representation from Vermeer, Topcon, and John Deere, the region also provides everything from UAVs and roadbuilding equipment to site prep and machine control solutions from partners like Carlson Machine Control and Wirtgen.

What’s Going on for Customers This Time of Year?
This is, without a doubt, the busiest time of year in the Midwest Construction region. “It’s all-hands-on-deck,” Kelly said.
The season really kicks into high gear starting in May and ramps up from there. As for the jobs customers are working on, Kelly says it’s a lot of everything, including general building, road work, and a lot of activity in aggregates and concrete projects.
“I love driving around this time of year and seeing our equipment building roads, constructing buildings, and moving dirt,” Kelly said. “It’s exciting to be part of all these projects that make a difference in our communities.”
What’s Exciting for the RDO Team This Time of Year?
With the start of its busiest season, the Midwest Construction team is focused on keeping customers up-and-running. While everyone contributes year-round, each team member’s talents get to shine especially bright in the summer months.
Building on Kelly’s comment of, “all-hands-on-deck,” Adam says the busy buzz isn’t only for certain team members.
“Our Sales Coordinators help get equipment to customers, our Parts Specialists run crucial parts out to jobsites, and our Solutions Center team makes sure technology is working for our customers,” he said. “It truly is a team effort and everyone plays a key role in our customers’ success.”
While service departments are fairly steady year-round, Adam adds that the stores’ service technicians are challenged in new ways this time of year. In addition to performing routine machine care, they often see new problems with the equipment that they can solve, all in the name of ensuring customers stay up-and-running during long days.
With the region’s continued growth, the team is also excited about a few upcoming projects to better serve customers. Along with the construction of the new RDO Equipment Co. store in Dayton, the Sioux Falls store is undergoing an expansion and remodel.
According to Kelly, “The Sioux Falls store has been around for decades. As the needs of the area have grown, so too have the RDO team and customer base – and the space needed to accommodate both.”
In addition to updating the entire store with a fresh look and modern environment, the shop is growing in overall space and going from nine to 13 service bays, plus one wash bay. The remodel is also giving team members a better working and collaboration environment, with more office and training space added, as well as a new breakroom.
Kelly says the team is eager to welcome customers into the new space, which will offer easier access to the areas they need and an overall better experience.
The interior remodel is planned for completion in October, with the full building and shop addition to be finished in November.
