Work is continuing to progress at the new RDO Equipment Co. store in Dayton. Plumbing, mechanical, and electrical concealed rough-ins were all completed in January and most of February’s focus was in the shop and working towards the next significant milestone: drywall completion.
Plumbing, HVAC, and overheard cranes were all installed in the shop this month, while both overhead door and storefront glass installations are scheduled for completion. The store is on track to be nearly 45,000 total square feet, making it RDO’s largest construction-focused store in Minnesota.
Another feature that makes the Dayton store stand out is its overall design. The store’s main showroom is set up with dedicated space for one of RDO’s largest manufacturing partners: Vermeer. The store will sell and support the full line of Vermeer industrial machines, which includes everything from brush chippers and horizontal directional drills to tub grinders and mini skid steers.
“Our Vermeer business continues to be strong across the RDO footprint,” Marshall Anderson, Executive Vice President of RDO’s Vermeer division said. “The Dayton store demonstrates our continued investment in, not only selling and supporting equipment from one of our key manufacturing partners, but our Vermeer customers who rely on us as a partner in their business.”
Vermeer customers will be greeted with a dedicated entrance, while the main showroom will feature space for Vermeer parts and equipment, with Vermeer-specific parts specialists and account managers to assist customers. Similarly, the service shop will include an area for Vermeer equipment, with a team of technicians, certified and specialized on Vermeer equipment taking care of all maintenance and repairs. Vermeer-focused management will lead efforts at Dayton, including in sales, parts, and service, as well as overall store management.
According to Steve Rosenow, General Manager of RDO’s Vermeer division in the Twin Cities, RDO’s Vermeer growth aligns with Vermeer’s continued growth and expansion of its product line, as well as customer needs, saying, “The addition of the Dayton store to the Midwest footprint allows us to be closer to our customers to better support them with parts, service and sales.”
In addition to Dayton, RDO has a strong Vermeer presence in the Twin Cities area, with locations in Burnsville and Sauk Rapids. Both locations will continue to serve customers, while the Dayton store adds another touchpoint for customers to take care of their equipment, parts, and service needs.
With the focus on Vermeer equipment, parts, and support, several Vermeer-specific jobs are open at the Dayton store. All career opportunities are listed on the RDO Careers page of the RDO website.
Steve added, in addition to dedicated Vermeer parts personnel and certified technicians, the Dayton store is adding a Recycling and Forestry Product Specialist and an Account Manager to keep pace with demand. “Both new positions will focus on key areas where we have opportunities to grow,” he added.
The Dayton store is scheduled to open in the summer of 2020. Watch for more construction updates and follow RDO on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter to see additional photos, videos, and special progress news.
