RDO Visits Moorhead High School Career Academy for RDO on Tour

Team members from RDO Equipment Co., RDO Truck Center, and R.D. Offutt Farms came together for the first-ever RDO on Tour at the Moorhead Career Academy.

The inaugural RDO on Tour highlighted the various career opportunities in machinery, technology, service, sales, management, and a wide variety of field support roles in the agriculture, trucking, and equipment industry. In addition to learning about career opportunities, RDO team members showcased several large and smaller-scale machines for the students to look at and ask questions about.

The Moorhead Career Academy is a facility in Moorhead, MN, for students to gain exposure to different trades and participate in hands-on learning while attending high school.

Jeff Schneider, Trades and Industry teacher at Moorhead Career Academy commented, “The goal of the Moorhead Career Academy is to show kids the variety of these trades and to fulfill our needs and shortage of skilled workers, and to show students that these careers are tremendous opportunities for development.”

Jeff continued, “The Moorhead Career Academy is a great place for students to get the exposure that they don’t normally get in a traditional high school.”

Events like RDO on Tour are examples of RDO’s commitment to partnering with local students, their families, and educators to develop the future of our workforce. RDO Recruiting Program Manager Andy Luikens says an important aspect of building those relationships is opportunities for younger RDO team members to speak with students on the cusp of making their own career decisions.

“That’s the engagement that’s fun to watch – people who are about to make career decisions learning, ‘that’s what others do every day? I can see myself doing that, too.’ In the long run, those stories are the ones most beneficial for these students to hear so they can better relate to and see themselves in our industries.”
