What’s The Difference Between John Deere’s 4M and 4R Series Compact Tractors?  

John Deere’s 4 Series compact tractor lineup features nine models, with horsepower ranging from 43 to 75. You’ll find five models in the 4M series and four in the 4R series. 

The M series models strike a balance between the E and R series by offering upgrades and comfort features, yet typically costing less than their 4R counterparts while retaining similar specifications and capabilities. 

All models deliver four-wheel drive, comparable power take-off (PTO) power, hydrostatic power steering and hydrostatic transmissions. 

Operators can easily select the best speed for each task thanks to Twin Touch Pedals and hydrostatic transmission, which both 4M and 4R models include.
