Jamie Newton, Service Technician at RDO Equipment Co. in Hermiston, earned the Master Service Technician degree from John Deere University (JDU). A web-based learning portal for dealership employees, JDU offers technicians the opportunity to grow their equipment knowledge and advance their skills working with agricultural machines.
The Master Service Technician program combines online courses with instructor-led training, with 250 credit hours required to earn the degree. Students are required to complete prerequisite classes in JDU, followed by core classes at designated John Deere training sites around the country.
Jamie’s interest in the Master Service Technician degree began nearly six years ago, “Since I started working at RDO Equipment Co.,” he says. His years of hard work and dedication paid off this spring and he now looks forward to putting his knowledge into practice every day at his job.
“I’ve worked hard so it’s very rewarding, but what I’m really excited about is using my skills and what I’ve learned to better serve our customers.”
At all stores across its footprint, RDO Equipment Co. is proud to invest in the continued learning and development of team members through JDU. Jamie’s degree will benefit both himself as well as customers, according to Ryan Bensel, Service Advisor.
“Jamie is well-respected by many of our customers and, in achieving the Master Service Technician status, he will continue to build strong relationships with more of them,” Ryan said. “He strives to be the best at what he does and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.”
