Mike Zeck brings multi-location store and leadership experience to help RDO teams support equipment uptime, rental needs and job site productivity in California and Arizona.
As construction businesses navigate increasingly complex equipment needs, dependable dealer support matters at every stage of a project. To strengthen that support, RDO Equipment Co adds Mike Zeck. As RDO’s Vice President of Southwest Construction, Zeck will work alongside experienced local teams to support contractors with equipment, rental, parts and service solutions designed to keep machines operating and projects moving.
“At the end of the day, this leadership addition is about supporting our customers and our teams,” said Marshall Anderson, RDO’s Executive Vice President. “Mike understands how sales, rental, parts, service and transportation must work together to keep equipment running. His multi-location leadership experience and commitment to developing people will help our Southwest teams continue delivering the responsive support and practical solutions contractors need to manage costs, improve productivity and keep their projects on schedule.”
With Zeck focused on Southwest Construction, Executive Vice President Marshall Anderson can continue to concentrate on Vermeer Construction and supporting RDO’s Mountain Construction operations, while also serving as chairman of the Associated Equipment Dealers (AED) Board of Directors.
“Mike’s addition strengthens our ability to support the Southwest while allowing us to maintain the right level of attention across our other construction businesses and industry responsibilities,” Anderson said.
Zeck brings more than 17 years of progressive experience in material handling and dealership operations. Zeck began his equipment career in 2009 through a heavy equipment dealer management trainee program in Spokane, Washington. He began cleaning equipment and working as a yard coordinator before progressing through parts, service, rental, sales, and product-support roles.
His time as a rental coordinator provided an especially valuable view of how a dealership’s different functions come together for customers.
“You saw how rental, parts, service, sales, transportation and customers interconnect” Zeck said. “That experience provided me a strong understanding of collaboration and communication coming together, and results in a great customer service experience.”
Most recently, he served as regional vice president at a material handling equipment company where he led eight locations across three states and supported more than 300 team members.
That broad operational perspective will help Zeck support contractors throughout the equipment lifecycle, whether they are determining the right machine for a project, supplementing a fleet with rental equipment or relying on parts and service teams to minimize downtime.
Zeck joins a Southwest Construction team with significant equipment knowledge, long-standing customer relationships and decades of combined experience.
“The amount of tenure and experience across the Southwest team immediately stood out to me,” Zeck said. “My role is to support that team, provide stability and help remove obstacles so our people can stay focused on serving customers.”
For contractors, that team-focused approach can translate into better coordination across dealership departments, more responsive decision-making and support tailored to local market needs.
“Contractors need dependable equipment, responsive service and partners who understand their businesses,” Zeck said. “RDO’s relationships across the region and helping our teams deliver that support.”
Zeck also sees opportunities to expand support for rental customers and compact construction equipment users. He is encouraged by the capabilities of the Wirtgen Group brands and Vermeer’s presence in Southern California, which give RDO teams additional ways to help contractors match equipment solutions to specific project requirements.
A Northern California native, Zeck grew up in Crescent City near the Oregon border and graduated from the University of Oregon. His family has deep ties to heavy equipment: his grandfather operated bulldozers in the logging industry and later worked for a county road department, while his father operated motor graders before moving into a supervisory role.
That background gave Zeck an early appreciation for the people who operate and support equipment. Throughout his career, he has built his leadership philosophy around accountability, relationships, and trust.
“Trust is extremely important to me,” Zeck said. “It develops through consistent actions and relationships. My goal is to build strong, trusting relationships with our leaders and team members so they have the support they need to take care of customers.”
Zeck said that commitment to long-term relationships is one of the qualities that attracted him to RDO.
“RDO takes a long-term approach and does not compromise its values for short-term gains. That mindset is important because trust is built through consistent actions, accountability, and strong relationships,” Zeck said.
By adding Zeck’s operational experience to an established Southwest team, RDO is strengthening its ability to help contractors manage equipment needs, protect uptime, and improve productivity across the region.
